Nepal is a land of geographic contrast, scenic grandeur and cultural diversity. Its landscapes range from tropical plains to stupendous snow heights. The northern mountains include eight peaks that exceed 8,000 meters in height including Mount Everest. In this land of 19 million people meet two religious traditions, Buddhism and Hinduism. Their peaceful co-existence is best exemplified in Kathmandu valley. In the remote villagers, ancient tribal traditions persist. People everywhere are friendly to outside visitors.
For adventures, there are opportunities for white water rafting. For the more reflective, there are numerous medieval temples and monasteries to explore.
